Dunklau was later issued a citation for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign. Dunklau and Mantiel were both transported to OSF Saint Anthony's Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch. The Chevrolet was then struck by a red Volvo truck-tractor, hauling a silver trailer driven by Alfredo Mantiel, age 27 of Kirkland, who was traveling eastbound on IL Rte. The Chevrolet then continued traveling southbound into the intersection without stopping at the posted stop sign. After investigation, it was determined that a gray Chevrolet sedan, driven by Mark Dunklau, age 61 of Paw Paw, was traveling southbound on North Mulford Road, just north of East Illinois Route 72. On 6/21/22 at approximately 1729 hours, Ogle County Deputies, Monroe Center, Lynn Scott Rock, Stillman Valley and Kirkland Fire/EMS responded to the intersection of East Illinois Route 72 and North Mulford Road for a two vehicle accident with injuries. The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs. The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including the Illinois Department of Transportation’s new media campaign: “It’s Not a Game.” The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies to get drunk and drugged drivers off our roads, encourage seat belt use, and enforce speeding and other traffic laws.
